FALL WINTER 24|25
Where to Now?
FALL WINTER 24|25Artificial Intelligence is gaining ground in a surprising way in the lives of people and industries. It is increasingly clear that natural resources are becoming scarce. Planet Earth is struggling to sustain the aggressive production of various industries, which are already concerned with solving this challenge without further damaging our biggest home: planet Earth. It is expected that in the near future, artificial intelligence will be adopted as a facilitator of new forms of creativity. Human imagination will be valued as a tool to solve problems, promote innovation, and provide an escape during the current poly-faceted crisis we are experiencing. However, the use of Artificial Intelligence is controversial. We know that its use can be beneficial to humanity, but it also hides its dangers. AI-generated creations are images so realistic that it becomes difficult to distinguish the difference between what is real or illusion.
“We will live in the same
towns and cities, but in different worlds.”
DR KEITH DEAR, DIRECTOR OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INNOVATION AT FUJITSU DEFENSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY
“WHERE TO NOW?”, reflects the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and human creativity, exploring the interaction between these two fascinating domains and their influences on fashion and art.
To begin with, we used the Midjourney platform to recreate images under the guidance of a Creative Director. The result was a collection of four images that capture TRIMALHAS’ vision of the culture and essence of the cities. We are not sim- ply portraying physical places, but rather conveying concepts and cultures that define these specific locations.
Our goal is to spark thoughtful consideration of this topic and therefore we invited artist and textile designer, Archie Dickens, to create his personal interpretation of the concept “WHERE TO NOW?”. The result is four works of art manually produced, using our raw material. This artistic approach combines the topic of artificial intelligence with the human and individual expression of the artist.
Today, the internet and new technologies make us feel as if we are part of the same place, without ever having left. We are so far away, but at the same time so close, even if we each have our own world. The sub-themes of “WHERE TO NOW?” represent cities that, due to their technology, identity or strong concern for sustainability and the environment, have inspired us to create our own collection. This collection aspires to those influences that are, in a way, making the world a more evolved and different place.
CAPE TOWN
SUSTAINABLE
This theme from the Fall 2024 collection was inspired by Cape Town and focuses on sustainable benefits and self-care. The motto of this theme is based on the idea of ‘disconnecting and living with less’. Cape Town, known as ‘the Mother City’, is the second most densely populated city in South Africa. Its distinctive character and creative community are a result of the combination of nature, city and ocean, which promotes a sense of community and supports local markets and artisans.
The market is one of Cape Town’s prime locations, with local businesses and fresh products collected directly from the earth to the table. In this city, the textile industry relies on factories and products produced by local artisans. The city is also focused on renewable energy through wind farms and water- conscious systems, adopting new habits after the drought that occurred between 2015 and 2018, and betting on responsible tourism.
We were inspired by these characteristics of Cape Town and its culture to guide the Artificial Intelligence, which then generated images that highlight the theme through colours, textures and local culture. For the SUSTAIN- ABLE collection, we were inspired by the concept of “rest mode”, which guides the development of our products to have a positive impact on the world through responsible raw material production.
This theme is produced in zero-waste circular systems and features designs that appeal to true simplicity. The fibers used to develop the knits in this collection have a low environmental impact, since the raw material yarn comes from regenerative agriculture, and the materials and finishes are bio-based. In addition, the production of these fibers consumes less water. The knits have been designed with its end of life in mind, ensuring a safe biodegradability process or the possibility of its recycling. The longevity of the knits is a concern of ours, and for that we seek to create garments that will last over time. We are more and more aware of the ‘Two Mile Wear’ concept. These knits are perfect for sleepwear, wellness, lifestyle or childrenswear.

This city is home to a vast network of green spaces, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability. With the Singapore Green Plan 2030, the city aims to become the most sustainable urban destination in the world, achieving zero carbon emissions. This commitment to being the “Garden City” has encouraged locals and tourists alike to explore the city’s greenery.
We are inspired by Singapore’s commitment to sustainability and its dedication to green spaces that also encourages people to get out of the house and exercise. MIAMI
FASHION
As the temperatures drop, there is one destination that always catches the eye: Miami. Over the past 20 years, since Art Basel established its second home here, with amazing galleries that have sparked and stimulated people from all over the world to visit and want to be a part of Miami’s vibrant energy.
Driven by the pandemic migratory changes, Miami remains the fastest grow- ing city in the USA, continually attracting new industries, events, as well as welcoming visitors and residents from all over the world. Miami’s vibrant and eclectic culture inspired this more fashion theme that celebrates creativity and self-expression in the face of the poly-crisis we live in. It is a city of extremes but no less inspiring.
Miami inspired us to create circular knit designs that explore a duo of styles between maximalist and minimalist, bringing a new perspective to casualwear.
The AI approach allowed us to inspire and bring imagination to the fashion industry vanguard, making creativity a key tool for creating more visual knits. The collection channels the main character’s energy of MIAMI’s lively culture, with fun jacquards that awaken the identity of the city that never stops. In this sub-theme, you will find colour blocks and energetic textures that are inspired by the beach vibe and clubs that are part of the identity and style that identifies the city’s culture. This collection is perfect for brands that work holidays drops.

TRIMALHAS x ARCHIE DICKENS
WHY THE COLLABORATION WITH ARTIST ARCHIE DICKENS?Trimalhas chose Archie Dickens, a fashion and textile designer grad- uated in London and living in Lis- bon, for collaboration in order to interpret our new collection. ADickens’ choice aligns perfectly with the upcoming autumn/winter 2024 knitwear trends, which emphasize unique and environmentally conscious luxury pieces.
By collaborating with a local artist, Trimalhas is able to reference the surrounding environment and strengthen a sense of community through teamwork, consent, and co-design. Furthermore, Dickens’ emphasis on craftsmanship and eco-friendly practices elevates the work significantly and the message that Trimalhas aims to convey through its collections.
Dickens is creative and surprising. Through his vision, he interprets the 4 worlds of “WHERE TO NOW?” in 4 knitted sculptures from the new Fall Winter 2024/2025 collection.
NEW FIBERS
GOOD TO KNOW
CASHMERE
Cashmere wool, usually simply known as cashmere, is a fiber obtained from cashmere goats, pashmina goats, and some other breeds of goats. It has been used to make yarn, textiles, and clothing for hundreds of years. Both the soft undercoat and the guard hairs may be used; the softer hair is reserved for textiles, while the coarse guard hair is used for brushes and other non-apparel purposes. Cashmere may also be blended with other fibers to bring the garment cost down, or to gain their properties, such as elasticity from wool, or sheen from silk.
MUSHROOM VISCOSE
Mushrooms, in addition to being highly appreciated for their sensory characteristics, the mushroom is also used as a medicinal source since its composition presents biologically active compounds such as polysaccharides, glycoproteins and antioxidant properties. Most of them have active antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Recent studies also indicate that some polysaccharides present in these mushrooms can also help to reduce the effects of aging since they reduce the damage caused by free radicals. The textile fiber is produced from agricultural and food industry waste and processed using viscose technology to obtain innovative and sustainable textiles.
SOY PROTEIN
Obtained from the residue of the soy bean after the extraction of its oil, this is the only protein fiber in the world with vegetable origin. With a noble ap- pearance and a glow similar to silk, soy yarn provides the final product with softness, smoothness, and shine, giving a feeling of “skin on skin”. It has the same moisture absorption as cotton but with superior ventilation. You can find some other properties such as:
- Dry and comfortable material (greater ventilation);
- Good colors with acid and reactive dyes;
- Antibacterial fiber;
- Luxury appearance, due to its silky sheen;
- UV protection superior to cotton, silk and viscose;
- Protective and nourishing effect on the skin (vegetable protein containing 16 amino acids).
RECYCLED LINEN
Linen recycling is the process of making new products from linen fabric. This process comes with many advantages such as minimizing energy consumption and reducing water and air pollution. Linen recycling helps us stop waste and reuse linen products after they have served their original function. In this process, we can use both pre and post-consumer linen.
MINT VISCOSE
Mint Fiber is a regenerated cellulose viscose fiber with a natural creamy yellowish undertone. It’s produced by adding mint, isomenthione, and rosmarinic acid from natural mint powders that are extracted from the natural peppermint leaf. This fiber is naturally a by-product of the mint/peppermint food and medicine industry.
Besides being an antibacterial fiber, which has a health care effect (against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans IHAS) and after washing it retains its antibacterial properties and antibacterial deodorant function, it also produces an incredible comfort factor when wearing the finished article next to the skin.
KARITE SOFTNE
NEW FINISHObtained from the seed of the Shea tree, this is a natural-based finishing. It helps fight dry skin due to its generous moisturizing properties.
It is also known to have anti-aging properties. Contains five essential fatty acids (mainly stearic and oleic acids), phytosterols, vitamins E and D, allantoin (good for soothing skin irritations), and vitamin A. This combination of ingredients helps to neutralize free radical damage and stimulates the production of collagen.
